Launched in January 2016, the ISCA-SAC Mentoring Programme is a joint collaboration between the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) and the Singapore Accountancy Commission (SAC). The Mentoring Programme is designed to provide CFO aspirants with access to experienced C-Suite Executives. Through one-to-one mentoring, mentees can learn from their mentor, what it takes to become a CFO themselves in future, as well as tips on leadership, management and stakeholder communication, amongst many other areas of expertise which the mentor could offer.

Following on from the success of our pilot run last year, we are pleased to roll out the second run of the mentoring programme.

*About the Preparatory Workshop
To ensure both mentors and mentees achieve a successful mentoring experience and relationship, a half day preparatory workshop is designed and tailored with these objectives in mind:
- To highlight the desired characteristics that the mentors and mentees should exhibit, as well as their roles & responsibilities in the mentoring programme
- For the mentors: Guidance on being an effective mentor, for example, how to create growth conversations by asking the right questions, and ways to establish good mentor-mentee chemistry, etc.
- For the mentees: Guidance on making the programme work for you, for example, building positive mentee-mentor relationship, how to initiate and plan a meeting with your mentor, and topics to discuss, etc.
Workshop facilitator: Mr. Patrick J. O’Brien
Patrick has a strong professional and educational grounding, with considerable experience across different sectors, countries, and continents. He has grown through a variety of roles, from individual contributor, to GM, COO, CEO, and MD.
His delivery blends three powerful techniques; he models & communicates excellence using Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), instills responsibility in learning by embracing a Coaching style, and, he keeps learners immersed in their present with improvisation. Adding in a little Irish humor and wit yields strong rapport, intense engagement, and great learning experiences.
