ISCA LPA Talk: Plan ahead before you lose your mental capacity - Sharing on the Lasting Power of Attorney by the Office of the Public Guardian We work hard to build our careers, to provide for the needs of our family and to build a nest for our golden years. We are very much in control of our lives and we manage our lives according to our plans.
However, we often tend to focus more on our physical health by exercising and watching our diet. But we hardly take time to consider our mental health and, more importantly, what would happen if we should lose our mental capacity because of an accident, stroke or dementia. It can happen anytime and to anyone.
No one really knows when one will lose their mental capacity. It is therefore important to be prepared with an LPA, a legal document which allows a person aged 21 and above to voluntarily appoint one or more persons to act on his behalf should he lose his mental capacity to make his own decisions one day.
Join us as Ms Janice Foo, an Assistant Manager from the Office of the Public Guardian shares about the benefits of making an LPA and learn how you can plan ahead to protect your interests with one.
