Technology Forums
Technology has the potential to disrupt business models, well established processes and even our roles. It presents both challenges and opportunities. To remain valuable, accountants have to have the right skills to deliver top-notched services in an increasingly digital and real-time economy. These Forums were organised with the aim of highlighting some of the new technologies, potential disruptions, and their implications on accounting and finance.
UPCOMING TECHNOLOGY FORUM
In 2018, the Technology Forum will be subsumed under the Singapore Accountancy and Audit Convention (SAAC) series. Stay tuned for more information. If you would like us to contact you for the next session, kindly drop us an email at paib@isca.org.sg.

Fraud Prevention and Detection in the Era of Cognitive Computing With an unprecedented rate of digital commerce & information exchange increasingly taking centrepiece in an organisation, it's no wonder financial crimes are a top concern of every CFO. These challenges compounded with the fact that customers expect faster and alternate payment methods, create greater exposure and far less time for an organisation to effectively evaluate and respond to potential risks.
To detect any illegal activities such as fraud, embezzlement, misappropriation, and money-laundering at an early stage, the traditional fraud and anti-money laundering systems no longer meet the mark. Unstructured data making up 80% of all data out there - residing in social networks, emails, chat, voice transcripts, memo fields in payments, historical case notes, cyber logs and so on - provides new and untapped insights every organisation can no longer ignore to fight financial crimes. Explore the next frontier in real-time fraud detection and prevention with cognitive computing to address these challenges while continuing to provide a positive customer experience.
