ISCA SMP BUSINESS STUDY MISSION MYANMAR 2019
SUPPORTED BY ENTERPRISE SINGAPORE
14 – 16 May 2019
The ISCA SMP Business Study Mission Myanmar 2019 Supported by Enterprise Singapore
The business study mission is a three-day business development trip targeted at firms who are ready to regionalize and keen to consider Myanmar as a location for business expansion and partnerships. This trip seeks to provide opportunities for firms to understand more on Myanmar’s business landscape and facilitate contacts with key personnel and partners in Myanmar.
Objectives of the business mission include:
- Gaining insights to Myanmar’s economic, legal and accounting climate
- Facilitating partnerships with Myanmar SMPS
- Networking with Singapore businesses in Myanmar
WHY MYANMAR?
Myanmar’s economic growth is expected to be 6.2 percent in 2018/19, robust by regional and global standards. As a fast-growing economy, mid-income consumers are expected to grow to $10 million by 2020.
With recent policy changes such as the adoption of the Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan, liberalization of wholesale and retail trade, implementation of the Myanmar Companies Law and large investments in infrastructure projects including those related to the Belt and Road Initiative, Myanmar is now increasingly business-friendly.
The Myanmar business community is eager to collaborate with Singapore partners, who are seen as trustworthy and efficient. With an active Burmese diaspora in Singapore familiar with the language and customs of both groups of people, Singapore firms can expect a welcoming environment in Myanmar. Singapore has been Myanmar’s top foreign investor for over five consecutive years. From F&B to infrastructure, there are more Singapore firms doing business there. Jump on the bandwagon and find opportunities for your firm there too!
