The workshop will be highly interactive and is designed to be practical and immediately applicable to the learners' organisational context. Through case study approach and facilitation of peer learning by the trainer, the learners will gain invaluable insights from one another, as well as the sharing of best practices from other industries by the trainer.

Mr Damien Cummings is currently the Chief, Digital Strategy & Leadership practice at NUS-ISS. Prior to that he was the founder & CEO of HR Tech/SaaS company, Peoplewave. Before entrepreneurship, he was Global Head of Digital Marketing at Standard Chartered Bank and Chief Marketing Officer at Philips APAC. Damien has also worked at major global brands such as Samsung, Dell, Ogilvy, Coca-Cola and McKinsey & Company.



Workshop Objective

Workshop Outline

1. Building a High-Performing Team – An Organisational System Perspective (30min)

  • Introduction to International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI) Performance Framework
  • Identifying important job roles, person and skills profiles for the workforce in relation to business plan and goals

Organisations exist to meet their intended purposes, regardless of whether they are for-profit or non-profit in nature.  To be effective and efficient in what they do, organisations carefully consider and adopt specific organisational strategies, set up systems and processes, and leveraging on technology to produce their products or deliver their services. It is within such a context, that “people” come together, interact and integrate with all the above to build a high-performing team.

For the session, learners will be introduced the ISPI Performance Framework, which provides clarity to them on identifying the critical skills and person profile of their workforce, in relations to their core and new operations, in order to deliver the organisational results to meet its purpose.

2. Engaging Your People – Best Talent Management Practices (6 hr 30min)

  • Employee life cycle and human capital value-add

For the session, learners will firstly be facilitated to think about an important question on talent management - Why do employees want to join, stay and give their best in your organisation

This question relates to important concepts of employer branding (what is perceived by potential and existing staff), employee value proposition (what the company offers) and employee experience (what is experienced by the staff).  There needs to be an alignment in these aspects in order to be effective in attracting, engaging and retaining the talents in the organisation.

Learners will also learn about the importance, strategic purpose, best practices and key tools and performance support documents of the key talent management enablers (Attract, Perform, Develop, Grow and Retain) that engages and develops their workforce at various stages of the employee lifecycle.

The session ends off with the introduction of an employee engagement framework and the use of employee engagement survey, as an important tool to determine the state of engagement within the organisation, for the purpose of identifying and prioritising talent management needs.  The practice of job redesign and technology adoption will also be discussed from an employee engagement perspective to enrich their roles and make their work more productively.

3. Case Study – Application of Talent Management Practices (7 hrs)

    • Individual scenarios – Facilitated discussions (using HR best practice guide/roadmap) towards development of strategies to improve talent attraction, engagement and retention in SMPs

This session will consist of multiple smaller sessions, each focusing on an individual scenario pertaining to HR challenges & issues on a specific talent management area (e.g. talent attraction, onboarding, etc).

Learners will be guided through their discussions using the HR best practice guide/roadmap to come up with appropriate strategies to improve the situation in the case scenario.  Through the series of sessions, learners will get to learn and gain unique perspectives from one another pertaining to talent management issues and solutioning, as well as from the facilitator pertaining to his insights on the challenges and pitfalls experienced commonly during implementation, and how to overcome them.

Mr William Thien

Mr William Thien is a consultant and trainer with EON Consulting & Training (EON), a human resource consulting services and training provider providing a wide range of human resource management and development support services to companies in Singapore. He is a certified Practicing Management Consultant (PMC, Bilingual in English and Chinese), Certified Productivity Consultant (CPC) and a Certified Workplace Learning Specialist (CWLS). He is an Associate
Consultant with the Singapore Productivity Centre (SPC), and a member of the Singapore Productivity Association (SPA).

Part 1

Facilitator: Benjamin Goh, CFA

This session focuses on creating new strategies for organizations based on sophisticated analytics. By introducing a model of analytical competition, participants will learn the typical behaviours, capabilities, and challenges of each stage. Participants will then assess their own organisations capabilities and guide it towards a higher level of competition. Emphasizing both human and technological resources and using examples from different companies, participants will gain greater insight into what is possible with modern analytical tools.

Upon successful completion of this workshop, participants should be able to:

Part 2

Facilitator: Daryl Aw, CA

This session focuses on the hands-on application of the Robotic Process Automation (RPA). Some datasets and case studies are provided for the training of developing and deploying software robots. The course assumes no prior knowledge of RPA. It begins by refreshing basic programming skills and introducing basic RPA concepts. The course then introduces the UiPath RPA platform and teaches participants how to use opensource/free UiPath software to automate business processes.

Upon successful completion of this workshop, participants should be able to:

●       Understand the basics of Robotic Process Automation (RPA)

●       Use and understand the various functionalities and features of UiPath

●       Identify processes that can be automated

●       Develop and deploy attended robots independently

Mr Benjamin Goh

Mr Benjamin Goh is a Senior Lecturer at the Singapore Institute of Technology specialising in data analytics, machine learning and finance courses. As Deputy Director of SIT’s Accountancy Technology Centre, a technology innovation centre sponsored by the Singapore Accountancy Commission, Ben focuses on creating technology-driven solutions for Singapore’s accountancy industry. As a way of giving back to society, Ben is also the Head of Research and Investor Education at the Securities Investors Association (Singapore), an investor activist non-profit organisation focused on investor advocacy. In his previous lives, Ben has held portfolio management, research, and finance roles in CIMB Securities, JPMorgan, Credit Suisse, Copper Basin Capital LLC and Vina Capital.

Mr Daryl Aw

Daryl Aw is the founder and Managing Director of Skybots Pte Ltd in Singapore. Skybots provides automation solutions for accounting, tax, audit, corporate secretarial, finance and sustainability processes, helping companies in their digital transformation journey. These solutions involve using Robotics Procession Automation (RPA), data analytics and Artificial Intelligence tools such as ChatGPT to automate tedious and repetitive processes for companies to successfully achieve significant productivity gains. He is a Chartered Accountant with ISCA.
