ISCA CEO, Mr Lee Fook Chiew, was interviewed by The Business Times on the question of "What's the single most important issue that you expect to see addressed by the Committee on the Future Economy on keeping Singapore competitive?" This is what he has to share:
The immediate challenge for the committee is to secure good job opportunities for Singaporeans, amid threats from regional competition and rapid technological changes. ISCA, the national accountancy body, is studying how professional learning will change amid the digital transformation, to help future-proof the accountancy profession. Key to this is to understand how education and learning should be revamped to develop individuals who are work-ready for tomorrow's economy. As economic disruption can be especially tough for professionals, managers and executives, who have spent many years acquiring their education and expertise, it is critical that Singaporeans take ownership of their development and growth through lifelong learning so that they remain relevant for the future. - Lee Fook Chiew, Chief Executive Officer, Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA)
