President of the International Federation of Accountants
Ladies and Gentlemen
Good Evening. On behalf of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Singapore Accountancy Convention Networking Dinner.
This evening’s dinner marks the end of a successful Singapore Accountancy Convention, which saw delegates from diverse segments of the profession come together to learn about “Leading Change, the Asian Way”. Apart from Ms Kirtley’s presentation on Positioning Accountants to Lead in the 21st Century, we also had lively presentations and panel discussions on topics driving changes in the profession, such as digitalisation, cyber resilience, anti-money laundering as well as Base Erosion and Profit Shifting.
ISCA has held the Singapore Accountancy Convention since 2010. Our aim has always been to keep the profession updated on the cutting-edge issues impacting the world of business and accountancy. We are heartened that the Convention continues to be well-received, which shows that it is bringing value to our members and the profession.
This morning, I made a series of announcements that are aimed at bringing positive change to the profession and society. In summary, in line with the SkillsFuture national movement, ISCA as the national accountancy body is creating more pathways for individuals to enter the profession, providing them with opportunities to develop to their fullest potential, regardless of their starting points. With these changes, we aim to broaden and deepen the accountancy talent pipeline and add to the diversity of talent in the profession.
These initiatives also support ISCA’s vision to be a globally recognised professional accountancy body, bringing value to our members, the profession and wider community.
We are pleased to have made good progress in supporting the development of the accountancy profession, and will continue to do so as Singapore develops into a global accountancy hub. We are thankful for your help and continued support, and deeply treasure the friendships and working relationships we have made.
I hope you will have an enjoyable evening as we conclude the Singapore Accountancy Convention on a high note with tonight’s networking dinner. To our friends from overseas, I hope you will have some time to explore Singapore and have a memorable stay here.
