The world of work is changing, driven by technological change. The professional services sector frequently leads the way in adopting new and sometimes disruptive workplace technologies. They disrupt partly because they affect workplace behaviours and how humans interact with the technology.
At the heart of these developments is the interplay between employees and employers and especially the degree to which the “psychological contract” between the two is changing. These issues formed the core of a recent discussion, the first of a series of Conversations Around the World, hosted by Chartered Accountants Worldwide (CAW). The focus of the first conversation was how businesses can achieve success in a more selfish age, where trust and loyalty are in short supply.
