Affiliate Pathway

You are eligible to apply for Affiliate (ISCA) membership if you have an accredited qualification for Accredited Accounting Technician (Singapore) or an equivalent accounting technician qualification. The official designation of Affiliate (ISCA) members is "Accredited Accounting Technician (Singapore)" or "AAT (Singapore)".

*Graduates who have been granted exemptions for the relevant courses required may submit their Affiliate (ISCA) membership application for assessment on a case-by-case basis.

In addition to holding an accredited qualification, applicants are required to satisfy the following criteria and/or complete the relevant bridging modules: 

  • At least one (1) year practical experience verified by their employer. Employers will need to complete a Practical Experience Record to reflect the competences that the applicant has demonstrated at work, including professional skills, ethics at work and technical skills.

Mandatory Completion of ISCA Professional Ethics Courses

Applicants will need to complete the following ISCA Professional Ethics Courses (e-learning):

Payment and application submission

We will notify you of the outcome within 8 to 10 weeks upon submission of all necessary supporting documents and payment.

Additional information:

  1. Practical experience must be recent and not more than 5 years from the date of application.

  2. Practical experience during full-time continuous employment with no more than 2 employers OR a minimum of 1,600 hours during part-time employment, over a period not exceeding than 3 years, may be considered.

  3. Demonstration of the following competence areas by filling up the Practical Experience Record, verified by your employer:
    1. Professional Skills
    2. 2 out of 6 Technical Competence Areas (Financial Accounting and Reporting, Information Technology and Accounting Systems, Management Accounting, Principles of Audit and Assurance, Singapore Law and Tax, Governance and Internal Control for Finance Shared Services
    3. Satisfy all the compulsory records stated in the Practical Experience Record

  4. Certified True Copies (CTC) - Applicants who are not working with firms registered under the Accredited Training Organisation need to submit CTC supporting documents, signed off by a CA (Singapore) or a member of a recognised professional body.

General

Affiliates (ISCA) are accounting technicians who are qualified accounting professionals performing a wide variety of accounting and financial roles, such as auditing and assurance, accounts preparation, bookkeeping, budgeting, costing and credit control, payroll administration and tax returns.

Affiliate (ISCA) must agree to abide by the ISCA Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics and all ethics pronouncements issued by ISCA, and meet the applicable Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) requirements.

Affiliates (ISCA) will enjoy the affiliation and a sense of belonging to an established accountancy body. The membership will enable you to gain access to professional development resources, get discounts on Continuing Professional Education (CPE) or conferences, and enjoy networking and career opportunities.  Such support will enhance your career development, keeping you abreast of the latest accounting standards and business developments that is deemed crucial to all employers of their accounting and finance professionals. 

In addition, as an Affiliate (ISCA) you will also be conferred the Accredited Accounting Technician (Singapore) or AAT (Singapore) designation, signifying that you have achieved relevant accounting skills and practical knowledge.

Accounting technicians who have been conferred the Accredited Accounting Technician (Singapore) designation are equipped with workplace ready skill-sets, including professional skills, core accounting technical knowledge and work ethics.

  • Up to date accounting staff subject to international standards and codes of ethics

Accounting technicians who have been conferred the Accredited Accounting Technician (Singapore) designation are also Affiliate (ISCA) members. These members will undertake continuing professional development and adhere to international standards and codes of ethics as they progress through their career paths. 

(b) Accounting Technicians

Accounting technicians who have been conferred the Accredited Accounting Technician (Singapore) designation are equipped with workplace ready skill-sets, including professional skills, core accounting technical knowledge and work ethics.

  • Access to continuing professional development and networking opportunities

You are eligible to become an Affiliate (ISCA) member and gain access to membership benefits.

With effect from 1 January 2017, your CPE requirements as an Affiliate (ISCA) are:

  • At least 30 CPE hours over a rolling three-year period of which, 15 hours must be verifiable
  • A minimum of 5 verifiable hours, including 2 verifiable hours of ethics, must be completed each year

Accredited Qualifications

An accredited qualification is the recognition of qualifications which have been reviewed based on established guidelines to allow the graduates of those qualifications to gain admission to Affiliate (ISCA) membership and be conferred the designation of Accredited Accounting Technician (Singapore), after satisfying practical experience requirements and completing the ISCA Professional Ethics Courses (e-learning).

Accreditation assesses the coverage and delivery of an accounting programme for the purpose of determining the level of technical competence of the graduates based on internal guidelines.

If you hold an accounting related diploma or equivalent accounting technician programme, you may approach the Higher Education Institute or Professional Body which issued you your qualification to contact ISCA for accreditation assessment.

Diplomas offered by private education providers may contact ISCA for more information on the accreditation process or send in their application to ISCA for accreditation assessment.
The accreditation is valid for 5 years.

Experience

All applicants are required to accumulate at least 1 year practical experience and satisfy the following requirements:

No, applicants are not required to be employed at an ATO. Applicants can satisfy the practical experience requirements at any organisation.
