Closing Address by Mr Gerard Ee, President of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants, at ISCA Games 2015 Closing Ceremony at the Pump Room, Clarke Quay on 12 December 2015

My fellow ISCA Council Members,

Members of the Community, Social and Sports Advisory Panel

Participants

Welcome to the ISCA Games 2015 Closing Ceremony!

This marks the finale to an exciting few months of competition, fun and camaraderie. This evening, we celebrate not just the victories but also the effort put in by each team to give their best and bring glory to their firm.

For contributing your time and effort, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all the participants for making this year’s ISCA Games a success.

A total of 14 accounting firms, as well as the commerce teams represented by diverse companies, took part in this year’s ISCA Games. We would also like to welcome the team from Crowe Horwath for taking part in the ISCA Games for the first time this year.

The Games is a good opportunity for members of the profession to come together and get to know one another, whether they are from the Big Four firms of Deloitte, EY, KPMG and PwC or mid-tier firms like Baker Tilly, RSM Chio Lim, BDO, Foo Kon Tan, Moore Stephens, PFK-CAP Singapore, Mazars, Nexia TS, One Assurance and Crowe Horwath, to small and medium practices, or from different business sectors as represented by the Commerce team.

I’m sure everyone enjoyed the friendly competition among the firms. And now, it is time to congratulate our winners. The firm that scored the most number of points to be the Overall Champion in ISCA Games 2015 is KPMG with a total of 65 points. Congratulations to KPMG for winning the Overall Champion title for the third year running.

Let us put our hands together and give a round of applause to our winners, as well as all participating teams!

I would like to take this opportunity to announce that we have taken your constructive feedback into consideration in planning for ISCA Games 2016.

  1. ISCA Run, which has been planned for 28 May 2016, will be the Opening of the ISCA Games
  2. This would mean that the duration of the Games will be held from June to October. This is to allow more time for contingencies to be made should there be hazy weather conditions.
  3. To provide greater transparency, the rules and regulations for the ISCA Games will be made available on the ISCA Website.
  4. In line with the objective of the ISCA Games to foster camaraderie, we will be introducing changes to the rules and regulations for better control when organizing the games.

Lastly, I would like to thank all participating firms for your enthusiastic support of ISCA Games. The Games are a time for members of our busy profession to let their hair down, engage in sports, and make new friends. Winning is just the icing on the cake.

Enjoy the rest of the evening!
