ISCA Advisor, Mr Teo Ser Luck

ISCA Run participants

Good morning.

A warm welcome to the ISCA Run 2019. I am very encouraged to see so many of you here today.

For the past six years, ISCA has been organising the ISCA Run to encourage healthy living and work-life balance among the accountancy profession as well as the public. We are heartened to learn that we have more than 1,900 runners participating in today’s run, which is the highest number of runners for ISCA Run to date. We thank you for your support.

ISCA Run also marks the opening of the ever-popular ISCA Games, which will be held till early December this year. The top four finishers for the 10km and 5km categories will be awarded points that will contribute to their team’s overall score in the ISCA Games. This year, 15 companies, including those from the commerce sector, will be participating across 30 different games to compete for the title of Overall Champion. Today, we have many runners who are representing their companies, including the Big Four and Mid-Tier firms, Small and Medium Practices, as well as Professional Accountants in Business from the public sector and across a range of diverse industries. I wish you all the best in your performance in the ISCA Run, which may contribute towards your company’s efforts to finish among the top performers in the ISCA Games.

Apart from the motivation that comes from competition, participating in a race is also about the joy of shared experiences and the celebration of sporting values. Today, we are pleased to welcome runners and volunteers from the Special Olympics Singapore. The Special Olympics is a global inclusion movement using sport, health, education and leadership programmes everyday around the world to end discrimination against and empower people with intellectual disabilities. Thank you for participating in ISCA Run and we hope you would enjoy the running experience today.

Apart from promoting healthy living and fostering camaraderie among the accountancy profession, ISCA Run also seeks to create greater awareness for ISCA Cares. ISCA Cares values education as an important key to a better life. With your donations and support, ISCA Cares has been able to help many needy Singapore youths with academic potential gain access to quality accountancy education. Since its inception three years ago, the ISCA Cares Education Programme has awarded bursaries to more than 70 beneficiaries.

Do visit the ISCA Cares booth located beside the baggage deposit, where our staff volunteers are happy to share more with you. Your donation will go a long way in enabling the Charity to reach out to more youths in need and foster a strong social conscience and spirit of inclusivity in the accountancy community.

I wish all of you an enjoyable run. Thank you.
