ICAEW and ISCA sign MoU to strengthen their collaboration

Cooperation is set to expand on the successful partnership between ICAEW and ISCA. Both bodies will jointly work on research and technical updates that will be essential to the growth of Singapore as a global accountancy hub.

World leading accountancy body ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) and Singapore’s national accountancy body, ISCA (Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the second between the two organisations, to deepen their collaboration in research and technical updates.  Signed by Andrew Ratcliffe, ICAEW President, and Gerard Ee, ISCA President, the MoU was witnessed by Mark Billington, Director, ICAEW South East Asia and Lee Fook Chiew, CEO of ISCA.

The two bodies intend to combine their respective strengths to conduct research and technical explorations that will support the accountancy sector in Singapore and the ASEAN region.  This joint effort is designed to provide insights and help solve many of the pressing issues faced by accountancy firms, companies and regulators locally and regionally.

“Our priority is to support, develop and advocate the advancement of accountancy worldwide,” said Andrew Ratcliffe, ICAEW President, “Becoming a Chartered Accountant is the beginning of a professional journey which needs to be supported by continuous research and technical updates. We are delighted to further develop our partnership with ISCA, and are confident that this relationship will help provide our members with the resources they need to consistently deliver the highest professional, technical and ethical standards.”

Gerard Ee, ISCA President, added “As we move towards becoming a globally recognised professional accountancy body, we are always looking for ways to bring value to our members and the profession. This collaboration with ICAEW will pave the way for impactful research projects and technical updates that deliver applicable insights for the profession.”

The agreement sets a framework for cooperation on technical and professional matters relevant to Singapore and ASEAN; both national and international. It will extend for three years, during which the institutes will explore collaborations on mutually beneficial projects.

This is the second MOU signed between the two accountancy bodies.  In January 2014, ISCA and ICAEW signed an MOU to establish the ICAEW-ISCA Pathways to membership scheme, enabling eligible ISCA members to become an ICAEW Chartered Accountant. The scheme will end its run in December 2015.
