Gerard Ee Re-Elected as President of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants; Kon Yin Tong Elected as Vice-President

Singapore, 25 April, 2016 – The national accountancy body, the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA), has re-elected Mr Gerard Ee as its President. Mr Ee is joined by Mr Kon Yin Tong, Managing Partner of Foo Kon Tan LLP, as ISCA’s new Vice-President, while Mr Vincent Lim Boon Seng, Director of Finance, Asia at Motorola Solutions Singapore Pte Ltd, is elected as Treasurer for another two-year term.

The election followed the conclusion of ISCA’s 2015/2016 Annual General Meeting held on 23 April, which saw five other re-elected Council Members rejoining the Institute’s leadership team for another two-year term.

Mr Ramasamy Dhinakaran, the former Vice-President of ISCA, has stepped down from the Council following the end of his six-year tenure. This is part of the ISCA’s leadership renewal process to engage more members of the profession and inject new perspectives in spearheading the Institute’s vision to be a globally recognised professional accountancy body.

Appreciation to Mr Ramasamy Dhinakaran

Mr Dhinakaran, a Fellow Chartered Accountant of Singapore, had served on ISCA Council since 2010 and as ISCA Vice-President since 2012. Possessing over 30 years of corporate experience, Mr Dhinakaran, who is currently the Managing Director of Jay Gee Group of Companies, chaired the Institute’s Corporate Governance Committee from 2006 to 2014.

Mr Gerard Ee said, “As Vice-President, Mr Dhinakaran played an important part in the Institute’s transformational journey, including our rebranding exercise from Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore to the current Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants. During his term as Chairman of the ISCA Corporate Governance Committee, he also played an instrumental role in advocating pertinent issues on corporate governance that were of interest to the accountancy profession, and initiated valuable research studies on the profile of audit committees of listed companies in Singapore. We would like to thank Mr Dhinakaran for his many significant contributions to the Institute and the development of the profession.”

Besides Mr Ee, the following members are also re-elected to the ISCA Council at this AGM:
