ISCA and Singapore CFO Institute launch CFO Mentoring Programme

-Programme is one of the joint activities under the MoU between ISCA CFO Committee and SCFOI to Develop CFO Talent

Singapore, January 27, 2016 – The Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) and Singapore CFO Institute (SCFOI) have launched a CFO Mentoring Programme as one of the key initiatives in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed yesterday. The MoU was signed by Mr Lee Wai Fai, Chairman of the ISCA CFO Committee, and Mr Chng Lay Chew, Chairman of the SAC SCFOI Council.

1.         Announced at the inaugural CFO Networking Evening attended by over 40 CFOs and senior finance professionals yesterday, the CFO Mentoring Programme is aimed at offering CFO aspirants the opportunity to learn and gain invaluable insights from experienced CFO mentors. Through this initiative, mentees will also gain unique perspectives on the requisites for the next stage of their careers, as well as impartial guidance on business issues, leadership and management wisdom, as well as sharing of best practices.  The CFO Mentoring Programme is expected to roll out from April 2016. Under the programme, the first batch of CFO aspirants will meet with their CFO mentors in a series of one-on-one coaching sessions over a six-month period.

2.         Under the two-year MoU, the ISCA CFO Committee and SCFOI will leverage on mutual resources and capabilities to develop and organise activities such as a mentoring programme and a series of networking sessions for CFOs. Plans are also in the works to further explore collaborations in research and training, and other areas of interest to engage the CFO community.

3.         Mr Chng Lay Chew, Chairman of the SAC Singapore CFO Institute Council, said, “I believe that in Singapore we can build a vibrant and inclusive CFO community, where like-minded peers can exchange ideas, gain new perspectives and contribute back to society. The SCFOI and ISCA share a common vision to nurture and grow this community, and we invite like-minded organisations and individuals to join us as we embark on this journey.”

4.         Mr Lee Wai Fai, Chairman of the CFO Committee, said, “The MoU with SCFOI supports ISCA’s goals to develop leadership talent within the accountancy profession, and caters to the needs of the CFO community. CFOs play a strategic leadership role in any organisation. With the CFO Mentoring Programme, we will work closely with SCFOI to nurture aspiring CFOs and develop their skills for this important leadership role.”
