More than 130 members and guests filled up three coaches bounded for the trip to our neighbouring country, Malaysia for a date with the King of the Fruits. With the highlight on the durians, members and guests were no doubt looking forward and was eager to the trip where many of them had gathered as early as 6.15 am in the morning!
Without much delay, the coaches moved off at 7.30 am. It was clearing the statutory customs first before we hit straight to the mushroom farm where authentic homemade nasi lemak breakfast was served. After a briefing on the mushroom farm, we were off to the bird nest’s factory where a video showed how the product is cultivated and the difference between a real and fake bird nest.
Soon, it was time to feast on the durians. From the young to the elderly, it was a scene of fingers licking good! From the sweet to the bitter taste, a variety of durians were supplied at an almost unstoppable rate for nearly an hour. With their ‘engines filled’, it was time for some shopping. First off was some local products shopping, which offers the traditional cookies and snacks. Next was to the biggest shopping mall in Johor Bahru, the AEON Tebrau Shopping Mall. Members and guests had a stopover for some light shopping.
The last stop of the day was to dinner before embarking our way back to Singapore. It was also a time where members and guests networked over meal. Laughter and jokes enveloped the huge dining hall and even continued its way to the coaches. With the feedback collected from the members, it was clearly another event that members and their guests had enjoyed thoroughly.
