ISCA Viewpoint
Opportunities Amid the Downturn
31 Oct 2016
ISCA CEO, Mr Lee Fook Chiew, was interviewed by The Business Times on the question of "What's the economic outlook for your business and industry? How is your firm responding to it?" This is what he has to share:
As the national accountancy body, ISCA supports the development of the accountancy profession in Singapore. Regardless of the economic slowdown, the accounting profession is evergreen. As strategic advisors, chartered accountants are highly sought after for their technical expertise, professionalism, integrity as well as their ability to help businesses see the bigger picture. These skills are needed in every business and industry. To maintain relevance in an economy that is undergoing transformation and a business landscape that is continuously disrupted, the Institute encourages the profession and members to seek continuous professional development to acquire new skills and knowledge for the new economy. Companies can also make use of this time to send their employees for training, in preparation for the economic upturn. - Lee Fook Chiew, Chief Executive Officer, Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA)
