ISCA Viewpoint
Experiences of a Student Reporter at the Singapore Accountancy Convention 2014 - Guest Blogger: Pei Jia from NTU Accountancy
21 Aug 2014
The Institute reached out to Accountancy students during the Singapore Accountancy Convention 2014 to give students a rare opportunity to hear from and network with more than 20 esteemed speakers and panellists from around the world, as well as prominent Chairmen that helm International Standard-Setting Boards!
I was given the opportunity to join the Singapore Accountancy Convention 2014, hosted by ISCA. It was definitely an eye opener, seeing so many renowned professional accountants coming together, and having many VIPs speak to us about current issues in the Accounting profession.
Even though there were some accounting jargons that accounting undergraduates like me could not comprehend, it was still an inspiring convention, especially for aspiring accountants. I have learnt a lot, be it about ethics, changes in the Accounting industry, or existing problems and complications. This really taught me a lot, and probably gave me an edge over my other school mates.
I was also really honoured to be the social media reporter, getting to sit in in an interview with Mr Tham Sai Choy, Chairman of KPMG Asia pacific and Managing Partner of KPMG in Singapore.
On the overall, it was really an interesting experience, and I really have learnt a lot. With that, I would really like to thank ISCA for the opportunity to experience all these.
Cheers!
Pei Jia
Stay tuned to hear from the other 2 student reporters!
