ISCA CEO, Mr Lee Fook Chiew, was quoted in The Business Times on the question of "As a business leader, how do you "get the organisation's culture right" -- and ensure the values preached are practised on the ground?" This is what he has to share:
Ethics and integrity are the cornerstone of the accountancy profession. The International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) Code of Ethics establishes the five fundamental principles of professional ethics for professional accountants: integrity, objectivity, professional competence and due care, confidentiality and professional behaviour.
At ISCA, we ensure that ethics education remains a fundamental part of our members’ continuing professional education. Our members are provided with reference materials such as the ISCA Ethics Case Files, a compendium of scenarios involving ethical dilemmas faced by accountants and adapted from real-life cases. As members of the national accountancy body, all ISCA members must abide by the ISCA Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics and meet the requisite number of training hours in ethics education every year, and will be sanctioned for ethical violations.
