ISCA CEO, Mr Lee Fook Chiew, was quoted in The Business Times on the question of "What are the key issues for Singapore to address in the second half of the government's term of office?" This is what he has to share:
Gauging from the direction of Budget 2018, we believe that the government will continue its efforts in driving Singapore’s economic transformation amid a changing global and technological landscape. To help Singapore businesses capture future opportunities arising from the global shifts identified in Budget 2018 – the shifting of economic weight to Asia and the emergence of new technologies – the government should continue to offer more targeted support to foster pervasive innovation throughout the Singapore economy, help build deep capabilities in businesses and people, and forge strong partnerships locally and abroad. More attention and discussion will be required to address Singapore’s ageing population profile and shrinking workforce, which may pose challenges to the economy in the longer term. - Lee Fook Chiew, Chief Executive Officer, Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA)
