MEET OUR 2024 SPEAKERS
Ms Mariam Ashroff is a seasoned sustainability professional with 14 years of experience in financial services. As the Sustainability Lead for LGT Private Banking in Asia Pacific, she leverages her extensive financial expertise and deep knowledge of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles to drive the integration of sustainability across the organization.
Ms Mariam collaborates closely with LGT's investment teams to embed sustainability into investment processes, refine ESG tools, and enhance product frameworks. She also spearheads the identification of strategic sustainability opportunities, both internally and through external partnerships, to strengthen LGT’s leadership in responsible finance.
Dr El’fred is an Associate Professor at Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University. He holds a PhD in Accounting and is a Chartered Accountant (Singapore) and Chartered Accountant (Australia and New Zealand). He is also a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Directors. Prior to joining the academia, Dr El’fred was an auditor with one of the Big Four international accounting firms in Singapore and Australia. He conducts research and teaches in the areas of assurance, corporate governance, enterprise risk management, sustainability and ethics at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and has been a winner of the Teaching Excellence Award in the Accounting Division.
Dr El’fred has published in internationally-refereed journals, including the Abacus, Accounting & Business Research, Accounting ISCA CONFERENCE 2024 SPEAKER’S PARTICULARS Page 2 of 3 & Finance, Accounting Horizons, Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory, Corporate Governance, Journal of Business Ethics and StrategicRISK. He is on the editorial board of the Journal of Accounting and Public Policy and an ad hoc reviewer for several refereed journals. His views and opinions are also sought after by the press, including The Business Times, The Edge, The Financial Times, The Straits Times and TODAY. El'fred's professional contributions include serving on the Judging Panel of the Best Annual Report Award, Best Managed Board Award Core Committee, ISCA Auditing and Assurance Standards Committee, ISCA Corporate Governance & Risk Management Committee, ISCA Ethics Committee, SID Accreditation Committee, SID Advocacy & Reports Committee, SID Audit Committee Chapter Publications Sub-Committee and SID Professional Development Committee. He is a member of the Audit Committee of SCELSE and CaringSG Limited.
Based in Singapore the past 10 years, Jarrod is experienced working on high-profile matters involving regulators such as the US Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission. In a professional career spanning over 25 years, Jarrod's experience leading multidisciplinary forensic teams has been gained within the Big Four accounting firms as well as time spent working in the enforcement division of the UK Financial Conduct Authority. He was also the in-house forensic accountant and investigator based in the internal audit department of a Fortune 100 manufacturing corporation.
Mr Manik is EY Asean Data and Artificial Intelligence Leader, responsible for the growth strategy of data and AI services across Southeast Asia and developing new human, process and technological capabilities that help deliver business value for companies.
A seasoned management consultant, he advises and works closely with companies across diverse industries — including government, communications, financial services, natural resources and health care — on envisioning and executing transformation journeys enabled by AI and other technologies.
Previously, Manik was the CEO and founder of an AI startup dedicated to alleviating global food insecurity by helping growers improve yields sustainably through AI. He was also the AI practice lead for Southeast Asia at a global consulting firm.
Manik holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and a BEng (Hons) from the Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, India.
Mr Adrian is the Chief Financial Officer of Tokio Marine Insurance Singapore with 20 years of extensive experience in the Insurance Industry. Having started off his career as an Auditor, he transitioned into various strategic roles in Finance and IT. Over the past decade, Adrian held leadership roles as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Strategy Officer, demonstrating strong proficiency in both financial stewardship and business transformation.
Mr Adrian Chua Tsen Leong is Deputy Secretary (Development) at Singapore’s Ministry of
Finance. He oversees financing for the government’s transport, housing and infrastructure
programmes, and security, resilience and sustainability needs. Mr Chua also oversees whole of government functions relating to procurement and finance systems.
Prior to this, Mr Chua was Deputy Secretary (Industry) at Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and
Industry where he was responsible for economic forecasting, industry and enterprise
development, energy policy, and economic planning and strategy. Before that, Mr Chua
served as Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Defence, where he was responsible for the
defence budget, manpower, digital transformation and legal issues.
Mr Chua started his career at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), where he was
Executive Director (Strategic Planning and Communications Department) and Executive
Director (Prudential Policy Department). He served as a member of the Executive Board of
the International Monetary Fund from 2008 to 2010, during the global financial crisis.
He was also a member of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision’s Policy Development Group,
where he contributed to the development of the post-crisis bank regulation framework.
Mr Chua has served as a Board member of the Defence Science and Technology Agency
and Chair of its Human Resource Committee. Mr Chua is currently a member and Audit
Committee Chair of the Defence Science Organisation (DSO) Board, and a member of the
JTC’s Finance and Investments Committee.
Mr Chua graduated from Harvard University with a Master in Public Policy under a MAS
Scholarship.
Ms Siew Hwi is a Fellow Chartered Accountant with more than 25 years of extensive experience spanning across listed companies, private and public sectors and leading multiple disciplines such as Finance, Business Operations, HR, Enterprise Risk Management, Procurement, IT etc.
Specifically on accounting, he has led projects on IFRS conversion, review and implementation of finance, treasury and risk reporting systems covering various reporting frameworks – IFRS, US GAAP, public sector accounting and integrated reporting across Asia. He is currently a member of PwC’s Global Corporate Reporting Services Group and the Global Banking Industry Accounting Group
Mrs Chia-Tern Huey Min is the Chief Executive and Registrar of the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority of Singapore (ACRA), where she leads strategic initiatives in fostering a vibrant and trusted business environment in Singapore. With a proven track record in regulatory leadership, Huey Min brings a wealth of experience from her distinguished tenure at Singapore’s Inland Revenue Authority, where she held key leadership roles spanning tax administration, tax policy, operations and regulations.
Internationally, Huey Min has been instrumental in shaping global tax policy, representing Singapore on discussions on Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) and chairing the Peer Review Group of the Global Forum for Transparency and Information Exchange from 2016 to 2022. Her distinguished contributions to public service were recognised with the Public Service Administration Medal (Gold), a testament to her transformative impact on Singapore’s regulatory landscape
Ms Yvonne Chiu is an audit partner with KPMG Singapore and has over 25 years of experience.
She has extensive experience in the audits of global financial institutions as well as listed corporations.
She holds the critical role as KPMG Singapore’s Audit Quality Leader to drive and monitor audit quality. Chairperson of the KPMG Singapore’s Audit Quality Committee, and Chairperson of KPMG Singapore’s Audit Practice Committee.
Ms Yvonne has extensive knowledge in the conversion from a number of accounting standards to International Financial Reporting Standards. She is the Chairperson of the Financial Statements Review Advisory Panel of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants. She is also a member of the ISCA’s Auditing and Assurance Standards Committee.
She is also a Chartered Accountant of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (winner of the Northcott Prize) and a practising member of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA). She also holds a First Class Honours degree from the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore.
Ms Yvonne is a strong advocate for corporate governance, process re-engineering, automation, analytics and sustainability matters. She held several management positions in the private sector (mainly US MNCs) across Asia Pacific for about 15 years before joining the public sector for another 14 years. Currently, she is the CFO of SMU and concentrates mainly on the financial transformation, ERP systems implementation and business partnership. Prior to her current scope, Yvonne held the position of CFO at Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG), an agency in the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI). The agency extends its presence through 36 Overseas Centres in 23 countries globally. She was responsible for Finance, Procurement, Administration and Sustainability for the Singapore HQ and worldwide operations.
Before that, she was the CFO at the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) for 11 years overseeing similar portfolio with the addition of Service Quality, Organisational Excellence and Piers Facilities Management. Concurrently, she was also the Quality Service Manager (QSM), Chief Data Officer (CDO) and Head of internal Sustainability efforts. Her effort in Sustainability reporting led to the inaugural sustainability reports that won international and regional accolades and awards. In 2019, she conducted a round table and published the first Maritime Sustainability Reporting guide. For her Sustainability efforts, she was awarded the top 50 ASEAN Woman Award in 2018. Professionally, Yvonne served as Vice President and Council member of Institute of S’pore Chartered Accountants and was the Chairperson for the Continuing Professional Education, Membership Growth and Engagement Committee and member of the Nomination Committee.
Currently, she is the Chairperson of the Accountancy Salary Review and Career Taskforce and a member of the Climate Change and Sustainability Committee. On the personal front, she is a board member of the Cerebral Palsy Alliance of Singapore (CPAS) and was previously with the Medifund Committee at Lions Home for the Elders. In additional, she served on the Public Sector and CFO Committees at CPA Australia earning her the titles of fCA with ISCA, fCPA with CPA Australia and fCMA with Chartered Institute of Management Accountant, UK and Chartered Global Management Accountant. Within public sector, she served on AGD HR Committee, MOF Procurement Council and Vital (Government Shared Services) Advisory Panel, MOF Finance Policy Consultation Group, Finance Competency Development Committee and Advisory Committee of Accounting Standards for Statutory Boards (ASSB). She was also on the Board of Enterprise Singapore Holdings and its subsidiaries such as Infrastructure Asia, IPI and Cargo Community Network.
Mr. Mike Driver, a Senior Advisor, is a deeply experienced government and organizational leader with a strong background in transforming public finances, data, technology, and people; he is a leading thinker in the finance profession and has successfully developed and delivered complex public policy while serving as the former Head of the Government Finance Function (UK, HMT), where he reset the vision and strategy for over 10,000 professionals, transformed communications and engagement, and built cross-functional relationships to enhance executive placements and shared services.
